In 2017, entrepreneur and investor Mark Cuban joined Hirebotics’ $2.4M funding round, bringing high-profile support to the Nashville-based startup pioneering robots-as-a-service for manufacturers. Cuban, known for his role on Shark Tank and as CEO of the Dallas Mavericks, became an advocate for robotics and automation as a way for manufacturers to remain competitive.
Co-founders Rob Goldiez and Matt Bush had started Hirebotics in a garage in 2015, self-funding the upfront capital needed to purchase collaborative robots they rented to factories. After a Washington Post story about the company ran, Cuban reached out to participate in the round.
In November 2020, Cuban joined Rob Goldiez and OnRobot CEO Enrico Krog Iversen for a virtual panel hosted by the Association for Advancing Automation (A3), discussing the future of manufacturing and how collaborative automation helps companies remain competitive.
