Cobot Cutter

Robotic plasma cutting, flat or formed

A cutting tool in your team's hands. Guide the torch along the part with the Smart Puck. All you need is a tablet and a part to run.

Why shops switch

Cut the part where it sits

A CNC table is hard to beat on flat sheet. The domed, curved and formed work gets cut by hand, and that's the work this takes.

Domes, heads and cones

The arm reaches around a formed part and cuts on its surface. Nothing has to lie flat.

Pipe and round stock

The torch follows the diameter, holding torch height and angle the whole way around.

Cuts on finished work

Cut openings in a weldment or a built tank, in place.

Parts with no model

A table starts from a drawing. A taught path starts from the part.

The package

Pre-mounted, pre-wired, ready to run

Everything ships as one cell: the arm, the torch, the power source, the workstation and Beacon.

Build it out

Build the cell around the part

Your part doesn't have to fit the cell. Start from what your work needs: long, round, thick, or two at a time.

Hardware

Bolts onto the cell, quoted with your system.

Secondary Operator Button

A second start button so one station keeps running while you load the other

Fixture Table

A second table for staging and fixturing the next part while the current one runs

Linear Rail

Extends the cobot's envelope along the part; standard modules add length

Index Table

Rotates fixtured parts between positions so the cobot works one side while you load the other

Overhead Gantry

Overhead travel that carries the cobot across parts too large to bring to it

Headstock + Tailstock

Holds a long assembly at both ends and turns it, bringing each weld or cut into position without a crane

Teaching

Teach the path on the part itself

The person who knows the part walks the torch through the cut. Beacon records it and repeats it.

  • Guide the torch along the part surface; curves and contours recorded
  • Fine Tune Points adjust a point without teaching it again
  • Parts saved in Beacon and recalled for repeat orders
  • Start with one; Beacon scales to your whole operation

Capabilities

Cuts ready for the next operation

Held cut height and cut speed on every pass. That's what makes the edge predictable.

Edge

Weld-ready edges

Clean enough to weld on, so nothing needs a grinder first.

Range

Steel, stainless, aluminum

Thin stainless through very thick steel.

Consistency

Every pass the same

Cut height, angle and cut speed held by the arm, not by a hand and a wrist.

Heat

Low heat input

Less time in one place means less heat in the part, and less pulling on thin material.

Collaborative operation. The arm holds the torch, so the operator can stand back from the cut. It force-stops on contact, and an emergency stop is always within reach on the operator box.

Questions

You have questions, we have answers

What kind of ROI can the Cobot Cutter provide?

Depending on your workflow, the Cobot Cutter can boost fabrication productivity 2–10×. Most shops see 2–4× more cutting output and full payback in 18 months or less, with financing and rent-to-own options to reduce upfront risk.

Will it improve cut quality and reduce rework?

Yes. The Cobot Cutter maintains perfect standoff distance, torch angle, and travel speed on every cut, eliminating the variability of manual plasma cutting. Tank Technology reported rework dropping from almost 25% to almost 0%, with weld-ready edges and minimal post-cut cleanup.

Can the Cobot Cutter cut all metals?

Any electrically conductive metal, including mild steel, stainless, aluminum, copper, brass, and more. The standard Powermax85 SYNC handles up to 1" mild steel; optional Powermax105 SYNC or Powermax125 upgrades extend the range for structural and heavy plate work.

Is the Cobot Cutter better than a CNC table?

For flat sheet with CAD files ready, CNC tables excel. The Cobot Cutter wins where they can't. It runs with no CAD/CAM or G-code (parts taught in minutes with the Smart Puck), on 3D surfaces and complex geometries like tank heads and pipes, from a mobile-cart footprint, and on high-mix low-volume batches where CNC programming overhead doesn't make sense.

Is it a good choice for high-mix / low-volume parts?

This is where it excels. Teach new cut paths in minutes, save parts in Beacon, and recall them instantly for repeat orders. With Beacon Pro, Enhanced Playlists sequence multiple parts with autoplay. The sweet spot is batches of 10–500 parts, but it handles larger runs equally well.

Can it handle curved and complex geometry?

Yes. Curved surfaces like tank heads, pipes, and formed parts are exactly what CNC plasma tables physically can't cut. Guide the torch along the actual part surface and the cobot records the full path, curves and contours included, with a 68.9" reach and 360° joint rotation.
