History
Where We Started & Where We’re Going
In 2015, Matthew Bush and Rob Goldiez had a simple idea. What if robots could be hired like people?
At the time, automation was complex and costly. Programming slowed production. Skilled labor was already hard to find. They saw a different path.
They built systems fabricators could use without engineers or code. Starting with machine tending and assembly, they launched BotX in partnership with Red-D-Arc, the first rental welding cobot.
But programming still slowed adoption. So they built Beacon, a mobile app that put weld programming in the hands of welders. Tap. Teach. Weld.
In 2021, we launched the Cobot Welder powered by Beacon. In 2023, we expanded with the UR20 Cobot Welder for larger parts and the Cobot Cutter for plasma cutting.
We introduced Beacon Recommendations for AI-driven weld settings. We added BeaconCare for priority support and discounted repairs. We created Try Before You Buy to remove the guesswork.
